As an experienced food educationalist and teacher trainer, she is passionate about the subject and believes it is the fundamental right of every child to learn to cook whilst at school.
When she saw cooking becoming sidelined into Design and Technology she developed and founded the Focus on Food Campaign in 1998.
Anita also devises training and design management programmes, advises Government education departments, the Department of Health and the School Food Trust. The Campaign is at the vanguard of improving cooking skills teaching across the nation.
It has its roots in practical cooking lessons which instruct both children and their teachers as well as the wider community. Anita’s unique and expertly designed teaching methods – delivered by qualified food teachers to schools and communities across the UK - are inspirational.
“I firmly believe that by educating children in the right way they can influence what their parents eat and what food choices they will make for the rest of their lives,” Anita says. “It is no good just talking about it, we need to do it. We all learn best through practical experience.”
