The Focus on Food Cooking Bus programme has a proven reputation for delivering food education and teacher training at primary and secondary level as well as in the wider community and among health professionals.

This success, coupled with the dramatic rise in diet-related health problems, has inevitably led to pressure on the Campaign from both the public and private sectors to extend its services beyond primary and secondary school parameters.

All this means the Cooking School will be in a unique position to provide quality culinary instruction to all. It will serve students of all ages and abilities from single parents to would-be cooks and chefs, GP referrals to brides-to-be. It will also be a training resource for teachers and school meals personnel as well as running courses directed at those in the catering industry. There will be a wide range of courses offered – including series’, one-offs and residential.

As well as demonstration areas and cooking stations for 20 students the Focus on Food Cooking School’s state-of-the-art teaching and learning accommodation will be equipped with leading ICT and audiovisual equipment to enable workshop/course sessions to be recorded for reference and further training purposes.

The Cooking School incorporates a full lighting rig and will be available for use for professional food photography and as a product development studio.
