Health Education Trust
The Health Education Trust is a UK registered charity formed to promote the development of health education for young people in the UK. HET introduced the concept of ‘whole school food and nutrition’ policy and championed the engagement of pupils in the planning process via its School Nutrition Action Groups (SNAG) concept in the early 1990s. The Trust has been at the centre of lobbying for Government action since its inception.

The work of the Trust is represented throughout the UK by:
• development of principled policy and practical solutions to implementation;
• advocacy for young people with national and local Government;
• advice/training through workshops/seminars and organization of national/regional conferences;
• publication of newsletters and the development of key resources such as policy guidelines, tools, and manuals;
• authoritative comment via all forms of the media;
• advocating the power of partnership in bringing about much needed change.

Focus on Food and HET have worked together on a number of projects. In 1999, following a period of research on food policy in schools, they jointly produced the publication ‘The Chips are Down - A Guide to Food Policy in Schools’. At the present time the Campaign and HET are working together to deliver the Food for Life Partnership programme.
