North Lanarkshire Council
Focus on Food is delivering a major initiative in Scotland in collaboration with North Lanarkshire Council called Focus on Food Scotland. This initiative is a continuing professional development scheme aimed at primary and secondary teachers and all those concerned with the health of young people. It aims to take the teaching of and enthusiasm for food and cooking into the classroom and thereby to increase and improve Scottish children’s knowledge, appreciation and consumption of healthy food.

Led by the Campaign’s Curriculum Development Officer for Scotland, Dorothy-Anne Adrey, Focus on Food Scotland is designed to help achieve the targets for healthy eating set out in the Scottish Diet Action Plan.

Focus on Food and North Lanarkshire Council have developed an innovative teaching and learning resource called ‘Hungry for Health’. This resource comprises a collection of ideas and activities, divided into three age groups - 3-5, 5-7 and 7-11. Each age group is provided with its own set of materials, Focus on Food ideas and activities, posters, recipes cards and copiables.
