Waitrose
Focus on Food’s first principal sponsor was Waitrose - the food shops of the John Lewis Partnership. Waitrose was a tremendous partner, not least because it shares the same values as Focus on Food when it comes to children learning about the production and social importance of good food.
Waitrose funded the build of the first Focus on Food Cooking Bus and supported the Bus’ teaching and training outreach programme from 1998 until 2005. The company also backed the development of COOK SCHOOL magazine enabling the Campaign to produce a publication of the quality of Waitrose Food Illustrated whilst crucially ensuring it was a free resource for needy teachers.
The first Waitrose supermarket opened in 1955. Today there
are one hundred and eighty five branches throughout the country
all dedicated to offering quality, value and customer service.
