Welsh Assembly Government
The Welsh Assembly Government sponsored Focus on Food Cooking Bus was launched by First Minister, Rhodri Morgan,
in 2006.

The WAG is working to improve health and reduce inequalities in health ensuring everyone has equal access to health facilities and services. Its approach to health improvement is to promote positive health throughout life. The WAG Cooking Bus plays an important part in this promotional effort as its workshops are designed to ensure children understand that knowing how to select, prepare and cook healthy food is a critical life skill.

Tony Jewell, Chief Medical Officer for Wales: “There is no doubt that the quality of the food we eat has a direct impact on our overall levels of health. This is an issue we cannot afford to ignore - especially as problems like obesity will become more of a challenge in the future. The Welsh Assembly Government is committed to improving the diet of Wales. Last month, (September 2007), we launched the Welsh Food Debate, which is the first and biggest consultation of its kind in any of the four UK home countries. It is aimed at giving the public a chance to help shape the way food is produced, supplied, marketed and consumed in Wales.”
